Em tempos de acirramento de mercado, as organizações mantem-se competitivas por meio de investimentos em tecnologia ou mudanças na linha de produção, focando em uma produção mais enxuta. Em poucas palavras, as empresas evoluem ao adaptar-se a novas maneiras para realizar o trabalho. Para subsidiar a inovação e maximizar a produção com melhor aproveitamento de insumos, insere-se o conceito do Lean Manufacturing. Originalmente, o Lean Manufacturing surge na empresa Toyota, sendo reconhecido e utilizado por empresas em diversos ramos de atividade para otimizar os processos produtivos. Diante disso, objetiva-se implantar algumas ferramentas do Lean Manufacturing em uma empresa do ramo papeleiro, para identificar e eliminar os gargalos de produção, otimizando o fluxo manufatureiro. Na forma de um estudo de caso único, metodologicamente, este artigo retrata uma pesquisa aplicada, utilizando o modelo do CESM (Composição, Ambiente, Estrutura e Mecanismo) de Mario Bunge para entender o processo produtivo como um sistema e facilitar a análise e a compreensão dos fenômenos inerentes. Com base nos experimentos realizados, pontua-se que a adoção de ferramentas do Lean Manufacturing permite otimizar o processo produtivo da organização em investigação.
