O objetivo deste estudo é analisar a influência da disciplina de Metodologia do Trabalho Científico na percepção dos estudantes de Secretariado Executivo acerca da pesquisa científica. Discute-se a formação acadêmica por meio da pesquisa mediante contribuições da área da Educação e a formação e a pesquisa em Secretariado a partir dos debates atuais. A pesquisa é descritiva e qualitativa. O método adotado foi estudo de caso. Para a coleta dos dados foram aplicados questionários aos alunos matriculados na disciplina e para a compreensão dos dados foi utilizada a análise de conteúdo. O estudo evidenciou a importância de iniciativas no interior dos cursos de graduação que associem o ensino, a pesquisa e a extensão e que façam o aluno perceber a sua formação para além do ensino em sala de aula, gerando uma postura ativa diante do conhecimento. A disciplina Metodologia do Trabalho Científico influenciou na percepção dos alunos que a frequentaram especialmente na ampliação do conhecimento sobre o assunto, tornando-os mais preparados para o desenvolvimento de futuros estudos. No nível de interesse dos estudantes em pesquisa a disciplina não causou impacto imediato. Constatou-se, portanto, a necessidade de fortalecer ações no interior dos cursos e em âmbito nacional para conscientizar os estudantes da importância da pesquisa na sua formação acadêmica e profissional.
