Technology-Push and Demand-Pull Models and Strategies for Ambidextrous Organizations: the Adoption of Technological Innovations by Brazilian Companies

The aim of this study is to analyze the adoption of innovations in products and/or processes by Brazilian companies, under of the technology-push and demand-pull models, verifying the adoption of the strategy of ambidextrous organizations. The methodology is characterized as a descriptive and exploratory research, using quantitative data with qualitative treatment. The data used for analysis were provided by IBGE, the Industrial Survey of Technological Innovation – PINTEC, from 1998 to 2008. In analyzing the data, it could be inferred that there was a greater tendency to adopt innovations derived from market demand, but not totally ignores the influence of scientific basis. It is considered even an interaction between market opportunities and acquiring new knowledge, and the creation of technological capacity, characteristics that identify these ambidextrous organizations.Downloads
