Partnership between social economy and the city government: advances and challenges of COOPERSIL

While economic growth reaches heights of prominence throughout Brazil, a significant amount of people still struggle for simple survival. One proposal that is most often underlined in the perspective of social inclusion initiatives have taken social economy which are presented in the form of cooperative self-management, composer for unemployed or underemployed who see in these experiments the possibility of generating employment and income. The present study proposes to raise the connection profile, challenges and prospects of members of the Cooperative for Recyclable Materials and Solid Waste Londrina City - Brazil, state of Parana (Coopersil) which is the beginning of their activities. This is a qualitative research, which was based on documents and interviews with key leaders of associations that led to the cooperative. You can see the enormous lack of resources, including information, but are undeniable advances already achieved with the formation of the cooperative, particularly the partnership with the City of London that guarantees the viability of the activities and improving the income of these workers.
