São grandes os desafios enfrentados pela administração pública em um contexto de inovação relacionado à gestão de riscos, em instituições federais de ensino superior brasileiras. Assim, este relato objetiva focalizar uma estratégia de intervenção ocorrida no âmbito de um trabalho institucional positivo ligado à implantação da gestão de riscos na Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE). A abordagem concentra-se nos três pilares (regulatório, normativo e cognitivo-cultural) que constituem uma instituição, acoplada a uma visão organizacional positiva que possa ser atribuída a uma gestão de riscos apropriada ao perfil da UFRPE. A estratégia foi fundamentada em princípios coletivamente pactuados pelo grupo colaborativo da pesquisa, mediante a consecução de um processo dinâmico, flexível, adaptativo, inclusivo e participativo. Para tanto, o trabalho apoiou-se em bases documentais, reuniões e oficinas envolvendo um grupo colaborativo ligado ao Comitê de Governança, Gestão de Riscos e Controle Interno da UFRPE. Os resultados estão expressos na escolha de um tópico afirmativo de um processo de intervenção socialmente construído, dizendo respeito aos elementos institucionais discutidos em torno das possibilidades geradas pela gestão de riscos, juntamente com os benefícios que podem vir a ser alcançados, à luz de uma configuração organizacional da gestão de riscos mais adequada à instituição.
