O objetivo do artigo foi verificar a relação de fatores do ambiente institucional com o indicador de competitividade global (GCI) no ano de 2016. Para tanto, foi realizada pesquisa descritiva, conduzida por meio de análise documental e abordagem quantitativa em uma amostra de 134 países listados no Relatório de Competitividade Global e no Relatório de Percepção da Corrupção. Como variável dependente foi utilizado o índice de competitividade global (GCI) e como variáveis explicativas do ambiente institucional foram considerados o índice de percepção da corrupção (IPC), o PIB per capita (em US$) e a carga tributária de cada país. Os dados foram analisados através de estatística descritiva, correlação de Person e regressão linear múltipla. Os resultados evidenciaram que a competitividade global está positivamente correlacionada com o índice de percepção da corrupção e o crescimento econômico e que os continentes americano, asiático e europeu apresentaram resultados estatisticamente significantes quando relacionados à competitividade. Ainda, dessumiu-se que os países com maior grau de competitividade estão menos propensos à corrupção e que as nações mais competitivas apresentam tendência de um maior crescimento econômico.References
