O Banco Regional de Desenvolvimento do Extremo Sul (BRDE) é uma importante instituição financeira criada em 1961, com o objetivo de financiar o desenvolvimento dos três estados sulinos. O Paraná, ainda, se encontrava em uma economia predominantemente primária, sem ter um setor industrial consolidado, portanto, era necessário criar instituições que pudessem financiar projetos que pudessem ampliar o seu setor industrial. O BRDE ofereceu crédito para diversos setores industriais paranaenses. O objetivo principal da pesquisa foi investigar os impactos do BRDE sobre o setor Industrial paranaense no período de 1964 a 1980, a fim de identificar os setores mais beneficiados e analisar a sua consolidação. Metodologicamente o estudo é uma pesquisa exploratória e foi empreendido por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, por meio de dados concedidos pelo BRDE. Os resultados alcançados mostram que o Paraná apenas conseguiu iniciar seu processo de desenvolvimento por meio de políticas internas com ênfase em teorias desenvolvimentistas derivadas da CEPAL. O BRDE, como órgão incumbido de fomentar o desenvolvimento industrial, foi uma ferramenta essencial criada pelo governo, para se alcançar o desenvolvimento.
