Este estudo analisou o nível de exposição a riscos de mercado e de operação nas atividades agrícolas de produtores rurais da microrregião de Pitanga-PR e as respectivas estratégias de proteção. Sob a ótica metodológica, caracteriza-se como descritivo e exploratório, com abordagem quantitativa, de corte transversal. Como instrumento de coleta de dados, utilizou-se um questionário desenvolvido e validado, que foi aplicado a 321 produtores rurais da microrregião de Pitanga-PR. Os dados foram analisados por meio de estatística descritiva e inferencial, por meio de correlação e comparação de médias. Os principais resultados indicam que a microrregião é composta por pequenos produtores, que predominantemente comercializam no mercado spot. Na percepção dos produtores, os principais fatores de risco da atividade estão relacionados ao clima, dólar e preços dos produtos, sendo que os produtores têm elevada percepção dos riscos da atividade e realizam ações e atividades para redução de sua exposição. Conclui-se que a exposição dos produtores aos riscos da atividade é baixa e que os pequenos produtores são mais expostos que os demais produtores. Eta pesquisa contribui para a identificação de estratégias que podem beneficiar o desenvolvimento da atividade rural e amplia o conhecimento e discussão do risco aos produtores rurais e estratégias de mitigação, além de possibilitar maior reflexão sobre a temática, as estratégias e o seu reflexo para a agricultura, para a sociedade e a economia.References
