Escala de motivação acadêmica: validade no contexto da educação a distância em curso de administração pública

A Teoria da Autodeterminação identifica três níveis de motivação (intrínseca, extrínseca e desmotivação) ao longo de um contínuo de autonomia. Vallerand et al. (1992) desenvolveram a Escala de Motivação Acadêmica (EMA) para medir a validade da Teoria da Autodeterminação na Educação. A EMA tem sido testada em diferentes contextos educacionais. O presente estudo teve como objetivo validar a Escala de Motivação Acadêmica (EMA) no contexto da Educação a Distância (EaD). Análise de dados utilizando uma amostra de 339 discentes do curso de graduação em Administração Pública ofertado por uma universidade pública brasileira forneceram evidências da validade de construto das respostas fornecidas pela escala EMA no modelo de sete fatores. Foram identificadas evidências da validade convergente da escala e do carácter distintivo dos sete fatores. No entanto, o apoio para a estrutura simplex da escala que representa o contínuo de autodeterminação não foi totalmente fundamentado. Os resultados demonstram suporte adequado da escala no contexto da EaD, podendo ser utilizada em investigações futuras sobre o impacto de estados motivacionais sobre os resultados educacionais, tais como desempenho escolar, absentismo, taxas de abandono, etc. em cursos na modalidade a distância.
