Power Relations in the Solidarity Economy: a Case of Self-management in Londrina, State of Paraná, Brazil

The study aims to analyze the possible existence of power relations on the basis of disciplinary power in Foucault (1979), in the Londrina Community (fictitious name), which has characteristics of Solidarity Economy. For so, we used qualitative research with unstructured interviews and observation. It was felt that the community analysed (in Londrina, Paraná, Brazil) presents a limited self-management prospection, considering that there are vertical power relations in the listing of work as well as an informal hierarchy which determines coordinators and board members responsible for strategic business decisions in the community. However, it was found that internal relations are dominated by deep bonds of affection that can only be understood when it enters the plane of subjectivity, and even non-utilitarian values of spirituality that gives them shape.
