Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the evolution of land use in the city of Rosana-SP, between the years 1984 and 2007, using geoprocessing techniques. Rosana is located in the extreme west of São Paulo state, bordering the state of Mato Grosso do Sul in North and Parana in South, and, on the border with the state of Mato Grosso do Sul is the Parana River and the border with Parana, the Paranapanema River. The results of the analysis identified the reduction of forest cover in the municipality, the new crop area and a reduction in large areas formerly arable, removed by filling the lakes of the Rosana Hydroelectric and Engineer Sérgio Motta (Porto Primavera).
